I played with these settings while testing it on my test bed and found the SE was very stable at a sensitivity setting of 18, but the deeper signals became were choppy, so I turned up the sensitivity to 21 and the deep signal became clear.
I next tried the new audio responses, and found the ‘LONG’ reminded me of the old audio 3, the smooth was a very smooth (less harsh) audio 3 and the pitch hold sounded just like my Explorer XS did when it got wet!
Out of the three responses I preferred ‘SMOOTH’ on my test bed.
It was at this point I tried the new pinpoint... wow! I must admit I never used this feature on the previous models, I pinpointed by moving the head forward while sweeping until the signal was lost, I then knew the find was just behind the coil. Using audio smooth on the SE and then switch to pinpoint pinpointed the signal smack on where the stem joins the head. I think the combination of smooth and the new pinpoint mode will increase my finds rate!
So these are the settings I am using;
